The greater part of ancient Rome is covered en route, and entrance into the Colosseum, Roman Forum and Palatine Hill included.

Fully private guided tour and self-guided entrance to the Colosseum that unravels the fascinating stories of Rome's remarkable arches. Embark upon a journey of adventure into the long forgotten past with a working archaeologist on our second ever private tour, created back in 2008.

Triumphal arches in Rome are testament to the power and glory of the Roman Empire, so let's turn back the clock to when Caesar Augustus reigned, the first Roman emperor!

Triumphal arches were often built over older arches erected during the Roman Republic. The vast majority fell into the clutches of wrack and ruin a long time ago. Those we can see today are important for historians and archaeologists seeking to shed new light on life in antiquity.

Triumphal arches celebrated military victories or pushed political agendas. Important events were recorded in sculpted friezes.

Three of near forty arches that were erected in late Republican and early Imperial Rome still stand inside the Roman Forum archaeological area. We dwell upon the information they reveal and perhaps conceal.

We learn about the arches of Titus and Septimius Severus, the foundations of the arches of Augustus, Gaius, Lucius and Tiberius, and we return to the age of the Servian wall, constructed in the second quarter of the 4th century BC. Two Servian arches are explored. One Roman arch built in 1603 is particularly unique, therefore we include it in our journey.

After the tour, the route of which meanders around the greater part of lesser-known ancient Rome, your first entrance Colosseum ticket will carry you into the arena without waiting.
